The Woman Behind the Natural Hair Care Line Briogeo

As the beauty industry grows and grows, the lines with more sustainable and toxin free ingredients are getting way more attention. When you think about it – if it even matters to you – harmless and nature-inspired beauty care should be at the forefront of our minds. Not only does it benefit ourselves internally and physically, it also helps the earth and environment by reducing the use of toxic chemicals. Nancy Twine, 31, took from her roots of homemade hair care inspired by her beauty guru grandmother to launch her own line, Brigeo. “Brio” is an Italian word that means “vibrant and full of life” – representing not only the bustling city in which the brand was born, but the thoughtfully energetic and artistic packaging that houses each formula. “Geo” is a Latin word meaning “of Earth and nature,” which represents the pure, yet potent, recipes of each formula. Twine is also the youngest  African American woman to carry her brand at Sephora. What I admire about the brand is its 6-free hair care; meaning formulas are free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, silicones, DEA and synthetic color. All products are 90 to 100 percent naturally derived and packaged in bottles that are both recycled and recyclable. Briogeo formulas are cruelty-free and most products are vegan and gluten free. After reviewing the full 19 product line, it’s amazing to see the intense ingredients that are geared towards all hair types. From their best sellers like Be Gentle, Be Kind avocado + quinoa wash to the Don’t Despair, Repair deep conditioning mask, the temptation to try some of Twine’s products out are pretty major.
