Baltimore welcomed The Sandlot on June 15th to bring a city-island, beachy feel to the waterfront of Harbor East. I kept seeing previews of the new outdoor restaurant via Snapchat and Instagram stories which is mainly how I consume people’s daily lives now. Yes, I’ll call it slightly addicting, but so beneficial if you want to know what’s happening in your own city. Each time it felt like the person was on some type of vacation – and I felt tricked each time. I love that we finally have something near the water that gives a sense of escapism from the city life to a beach park minus the actual beach. There’s plenty of sand hence the name (also named after the baseball film: Sandlot), and quick bites such as corn dogs, stacked nachos, and oysters.

The newest addition to the Foodshed restaurant group (Woodberry Kitchen, Parts and Labor, Artifact Coffee) has 30,000 sq feet of pure adult and family-friendly goodness. While I was there with my other blogger friends for some much needed unwind time, I witnessed everything from a 20 year, wedding vow renewal ceremony to dog walking to kids frolicking in the sand. “It’s going to have the feeling of a 1960s funky national park,” Polyoka said. The concept that the owners have for this space goes beyond their normal eateries; they plan to have activities like six sand volleyball courts, three bocce courts and “kids zones” with climbing apparatuses, along with various seating options.

If you’re a blogger or photographer, this is also a great place to create your photos with the area providing some seriously aesthetically pleasing backdrops. A few of my girls made sure to get pics before we indulged in alcoholic slushie drinks and wine. The weather was beautiful and breezy and certainly set the mood for an outside spot like the sandlot. If you’re in the area, please check out this spot for your next Baltimore adventure. I’m sure this place will be packed for the fourth of July and throughout the summer. I don’t think it is open all year round, so you better get here fast! Check out more info below.
Operating hours will be 4 p.m.-11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday. For more information, go to instagram.com/sandlotbaltimore. (via Baltimore Sun)
