Favorite Beauty Essentials of 2016

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Wrapping up 2016 with my favorite beauty products and essentials for the year. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but these babies should be stunning to all. But okay, I know I am actually just speaking for myself here, so let’s get started with my list.

  1. Prada Candy Perfume: This warm & spicy yet sweet fragrance has been on my wish list for quite sometime. It was finally gifted to me by my good friend Pete for my birthday (Thanks Petey!), and it’s the ideal scent for someone who doesn’t want overpowering. My body chemistry or maybe it’s my actual nose sensitivity can’t take most perfumes because of the strong scent but this one is light and slightly sweet. Mmmm
  2. Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen – 1 word: EASY. A dummie proof eyeliner application that is basically like writing with a pen. Super easy to use but of course you still need to have a steady hand…lol. I love the jet black color and how smooth it glides on to my skin.
  3. Cat’s Face Mask: Not only are these fun to wear (so theatrical), they actually WORK. I wasn’t sure if it was just a gimmick product – although I did have a feeling it would be decent due to Japanese products usually being top notch. This was a gift from Japan. After using one, I purred like a cat (j/k) and then noticed very soft, moisturized skin.
  4. Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil: I have raved about this face oil before here. Basically, it’s crack in a bottle. No but seriously, it has the right amount of emollients and ingredients to give great skin. It is pricey but worth it! Just read about it here.
  5. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer: This has been one of my HG products for about 4 years now. I always get so excited when I see others are using it too. The shade range is very good, and I use the armand color which is a shade lighter than me. It brightens my eyes somehow, especially after applying foundation.
  6. Alaffia Coconut Oil: I bought this on a whim when I was in Urban Outfitters looking for lotion. Who looks for lotion in UO?? Right, I know. This was the only thing they had and I was fighting with myself to purchase it because of the price. It retails for $14. Since I am an avid reader of the source of things and its ingredients. I noticed that it was made in Togo, Africa and that the coconuts were derived from their farms and yada yada. So I felt like I was also supporting a good cause for a country I long to visit. BONUS: This is also amazing for hair!
  7. NOW Solutions Avocado Oil: A great oil that gives you a good moisture lock on the skin. Some may use this on their faces but I tried and it didn’t do much for me. I use this in my homemade lip scrubs and on my legs and arms. I occasionally mix this with shea butter too because of my uber dry skin. The price isn’t too bad either.
  8. Ruby Kisses All Over Glow Bronzing Powder: If I can recall, I think I heard about this product from a youtube video. After seeing it, I did my research per usual, and found that people say this is a good dupe for MAC’s Gold Deposit. It is very pigmented so brush lightly, but getting all those areas where the sun hits your face (i.e. bridge of nose, high cheek bones, cupid’s bow, etc) will have you looking like a goddess.
  9. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rose Gold: I only have a sample of this but WOW. It is the most beautiful shimmer of pink but not over the top. I wear this if I don’t want to overdue it with a powder. I am currently using the liquid.
  10. Nars Rikugien Satin Lip Pencil: Perfect Nude for chocolate girls but then again it maybe one size fits all in terms of skin tones. I love this smooth and easy-to-apply lip color so much that I’ve put aside my red lipstick for some time now. It looks great with my makeup for day or night. And even better with a dramatic eye.

You can check them out below. The cat’s mask below isn’t the same one I have, but i wanted to give a similar product.

More products I’m looking forward to trying in 2017 is Ouai and Jessie’s hair products (once my hair grows longer), Glossier Haloscope, and more Boscia and GlamGlow masks.

What are some of your favorite tried and true beauty products?? Please share!

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend! xo
