Beauty Report: Beauty Buys of the Month

Getting stuck in a rut can be inevitable for many of us. Our beauty routine can seem like a repetitive story told over and over again. And while we may be completely content with that storyline; we may get a little curious about what other chapters are out there. You’re probably wondering “Is she talking about beauty products or life in general?” But oh yes, I am certainly dramatizing the talk about our makeup and beauty choices we seem to almost never change. One thing I try to do from time to time is change my foundation, however besides that product – I am persistent with what items I buy. I recently watched a youtube tutorial on a ‘No Makeup’ Summer make up look, and I took my pen and pad to write down what some of those appealing products were. After watching that video and already itching for new things to play with, in addition to things I REALLY needed, here are a few of things beauty buys I grabbed over the weekend. Check them out below.

  1. 1. Japonesque Strobing Kit - I was looking for an all over shimmer or illuminator to mix with my foundation for a soft glow. My best bargain and product that produced the soft shimmery look was recommended by a rep at Ulta Beauty. She suggested I buy this strobing kit that was only $20! Best deal for what you get. It comes with 3 highlighting creams and a finishing powder all in one set. I love it so far and it gives you all the steps.
  2. 2. Maybelline ‘Fit Me’ Matte Foundation – So I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen my previous beauty posts, but I already have a foundation that is basically bae. I was in the mood to try one by Maybelline. I’ve actually never used a drugstore brand foundation, so I was interested to see how this would look on my skin. I mixed it with the shimmer cream the first 2 times, so I didn’t fully have it one. And then twice by itself and so far, it is way more obvious that I am wearing makeup. Totally not in a bad way, but it’s just different. It may be more suitable for night time. I may also try the dewy cream since the product is only $7.99.
  3. 3. NYX Glam Lip Gloss in Glitter Dreams – I got lucky with this gloss. Sometimes when I’m shopping for drugstore brands, you can’t try it on so I have to hope, wish, and pray that it won’t make me look like a circus act. Thankfully, it is the prettiest raspberry sorbet shade I’ve ever seen. The consistency is smooth with shimmering specks. I love it for day and night.
  4. 4. Nest Rollerball Fragrance in Indigo – This perfume has been on my wish list for a lengthy time now, but I finally went and bought the cute little roller ball to add something to my dried up collection. The smell is somewhat girly, if you’re into that. But I love the scent.
  5. 5. LA Girl Pro Concealer Corrector – I have been hearing good reviews on this color corrector, and now I’m giving it a try. I am a rookie at this, so I’m not sure if I’m applying and blending it right. Sadly – I don’t even know if it’s the right shade for me. I just guessed. I am using it for the top of my lip, praying that I can camouflage this dark hyper pigmentation. But with that, it seems to be working okay.
  6. 6. Bella Pro Curling Iron – I just bought a random curling iron from TJ Maxx – sometimes they say – you get what you paid for and this may be the case. It is cute to look at and does the job for my new long hair (you guys will see soon if you haven’t already seen it on social media), so I can’t complain.
  7. 7. Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Gardener’s Therapy (not pictured) – I forgot to include this hand lotion into the pics but I bought this holy grail product as well. It is great for a silky smooth and moisturized finish on your hands. It didn’t hurt that it was also on sale for 30% off.

Thanks for reading about my random buys from my trip to the beauty store. I will also do a youtube video comparison for the Nars vs Maybelline’s foundation soon. Please share any recent favorite beauty buys you’ve bought. xo
