Last week, I made my very first acai bowl using this recipe from What’s Gaby Cooking. It was a good way to eat soft foods that provided protein, fiber, and antioxidants, since I was still recovering from my surgery. Acai berries are a superfood and are claimed to be one of the healthiest berries you will ever find. Commonly found in the rain forests of the Amazon, they have also been known to be a healing fruit for centuries, providing great health benefits. So now that we’ve gotten how good they are for you out of the way, can we talk about how delicious this bowl was?? Luckily, this is a super easy recipe. I bought the Rambazon smoothie pack from MOMs organic market and blended it with a banana and sweetened almond milk. They come in two types (Original Blend and Pure and unsweetened which is the one I bought) and added blueberries, strawberries, bananas, granola, and coconut flakes for my toppings. The only thing I would change for the next time would be to maybe add honey or agave to the mix for a bit more flavor in my smoothie bowl. But in a nutshell, this is a smoothie that you would normally drink with a straw that’s basically transferred into a bowl with whatever goodie toppings you like. Make sure to make it pretty and enjoy it with your favorite book, magazine or movie. IT is delicious!
