After leaving a city with an abundance of love, culture and food – my mind has been fixated on the yummy desserts and tons of bread I indulged in during my trip. As much as I love eating anything at the moment, and not worrying about the consequences, the aftermath of it all had me feeling somewhat guilty. Scratch that – a whole lot of guiltiness. I ate so much bread that I honestly started to feel a yeast infection coming on (sorry for the TMI) but hey, nothing to hide here. It’s not like those things are secret, and I’m sure there are mostly women reading this – so be it. SN: I haven’t had one of those in yeaarrrsss. Thankfully, it didn’t show up.
Now, since it is also no secret that we love desserts and sweets – whether you’re a chocolate lover, crepes addict, or pumpkin eater during Fall, there are options galore ,and on top of that – healthy ones. I have rounded up a few that I would like to make myself, either for a small gathering or just a quick bite when I’m having a serious sweet tooth. These are mostly healthy meaning gluten, dairy and flour free. Also, fairly easy to make. Check out 6 Fall dessert recipes that will certainly make your mouth water.
Paleo Chocolate Pumpkin Cake
Anything that drops and melts of chocolate is a winner in my book. This gluten free cake made with peanut butter, almond flour, pumpkin puree and coconut milk is said to be very moist despite the usual ingredients we typically use. The recipe also boasts a Fall flavor due to its spices of cinnamon and ground cloves. To make this recipe, click here. (pic via primaverakitchen.com)
Apple and Mixed Berry Crumble
Mmmm apples. They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, and when you add rolled oats – you’re getting your dose of fiber as well. I love a mixed berry recipe. This one is easy to make but does have butter and flour in the recipe. I’m sure there are substitutions for those if you don’t want to add to your dish. A scoop of your favorite ice cream will top it off. Click here to get recipe. (pic via zoomyyummy.com)
Lemon Poppyseed Muffins
I had to make sure there was a lemon option for you. I still don’t understand why people don’t like the lemon starburst, but I’m sure you have to love a lemon cake, tart or pie. Here is a muffin recipe for you – healthy and delicious. Description: Super moist lemon poppyseed muffins make with greek yogurt – topped with sweet and tangy cream cheese lemon icing. Brown Sugar Glazed Apple Cinnamon Baked Donuts
Boy is that a mouth full – literally and figuratively. Who doesn’t love a tasty donut? One that has a frosting and toppings that give a crunch. This specific recipe includes chopped walnuts (also healthy) and I seriously can’t wait to make these. Click here for the recipe. (pic via thereciperebel.com)
No-bake Maple Almond Butter Cookies
The simplest way to make cookies that don’t require an oven? I’m here for it. These whipped-up cookies are vegan, gluten-free, whole grain, and dairy-free. They have everything from almond to vanilla to cinnamon chips. The only downside to this recipe is that they have to be refrigerated for about a week after being made. Click here for the recipe. Strawberries & Cream Crepes with Orange Liqueur
I couldn’t complete my list without a Parisian specialty: Crepes. This dessert was an exception to the rule. It isn’t that healthy, but there is some fruit involved so that should count for something, right? I had some of the most delicious crepes over in Paris. They honestly don’t require much thought. It’s all about adding your favorite toppings, and in my case that would be nutella and strawberries. Here is a yummy recipe for you to make. Click here. (pic via cafedelites.com)
